Candice Hay
Candice Jade Hay qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2008 with a BSc (OT) from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. She completed her community service year at the Tara H. Moross Hospital working in both the male and female acute lock up wards as well as the paediatric outpatient department. Following her community service she started a paediatric practice at a government school in Johannesburg, Buccleuch Primary School. In conjunction to working at Buccleuch Primary School, Candice also worked at a paediatric private practice, Cara Lee Musnick and Associates, in the Sandton area. In 2014 Candice was afforded the opportunity to purchase Cara Lee Musnick and Associates. In March 2014 she became the practice owner and renamed the practice ‘OT Sense’; a full refurbishment of the practice was completed. Candice currently employs 7 Occupational Therapists at OT Sense and continues to run and manage a successful practice. Candice and her family moved to the United Kingdom in September 2016. Candice is now a team member of Kiki’s Children’s Clinic where she will be working as a full time Paediatric OT.
Candice has gained experience working in Mental Health as well as with adults and adolescents, however, her passion is working within the Paediatic field. Candice has worked with a number of different diagnoses, such as: ASD, CP, learning difficulties, sensory integration concerns, self-esteem concerns, developmental delay and visual perceptual difficulties, but, Candice specialises in the treatment of handwriting difficulties and postural and concentration concerns.
Candice completed her Integrative Learning Therapy in 2010 with distinction. She has recently received training in Practice Management, CPR, Metacognition and the Learner and the Left-Handed Child and Sensory Integration. Candice is a co-founder of ‘Moms with Munchkins’, a support group for new and expectant moms and is in the process of writing a book called ‘The Munchkin Manual’. She is also the co-founder of ‘Study Write’, a study skills training programme.
